Our History
John Bellody's early days in the business were marked by hard work and a commitment to providing quality products and dependable service. In the late 1940s, he saw an opportunity to distribute white quartz sand for plastering, stucco, and sand finished ceilings throughout New England. He formed New England Silica in 1949, and soon the company had built a reputation for delivering quality products and providing reliable service.
In the early 1970s, New England Silica branched out into concrete pavers and retaining walls, as well as a line of bulk and bagged decorative landscape stone for the lawn and garden industry. This diversification enabled the company to continue growing and expanding its product line. Today, we are proud to carry three of the top lines in the industry - Pavers by Ideal, Techo-Bloc, and Unilock.
