Our History

Harney Rock & Paving Co. has been a cornerstone of the construction industry in the Pacific Northwest for over forty years. Established in 1977 in Burns, Oregon, our company started with humble beginnings, crushing rock for U.S. Forest Service projects. Driven by a commitment to quality and customer service, we expanded our operations, becoming the sole provider of asphalt paving services in Harney County. Today, we proudly supply a wide array of construction materials, including crushed rock, ready-mixed concrete, and hot-mixed asphalt, serving the diverse needs of the eastern Oregon region.

Our journey has taken us beyond the borders of Oregon. In the early 1980s, recognizing a need for quality rock products in Nevada, we relocated a rock crusher to Elko, focusing on supplying railroad ballast for the Western Pacific Railroad and contributing to the critical "Life Saver" project. This expansion marked the birth of Silver State Rock Products, a division of Harney Rock & Paving Co., which has grown to become Elko's largest ready-mixed concrete supplier.

Further solidifying our commitment to providing essential building materials, we established the North Powder quarry in 1990, situated in Baker County, Oregon. This quarry serves a crucial role in supplying railroad ballast to Union Pacific Railroad for its Pacific Northwest network, while also providing essential rock products to the local communities.
